NGCM Students Perform Research for Industry

The students of the CDT in NGCM have in the last couple of months engaged with Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) Ltd. Over the years numerical modelling has become an ever more important part in R&D of the manufacturing industry, acting as a third pillar in addition to theory and experiments to underpin progress in science and engineering. Many computational tools have been developed, yet computational modelling is still a young discipline and research and industry and academia alike can benefit significantly by establishing and sharing best practice.

KTN have thus approached the NGCM students and tasked them with providing a state-of-the-art review of numerical modelling techniques. In a joint effort shared by all current students of the CDT this report has now been produced and has just been delivered to KTN.
